NXP acquires chip startup Kinara to accelerate Edge AI

Kinara, developer of cutting-edge AI acceleration technology, based on high-performance, power-efficient discrete Neural Processing Units, is acquired by NXP (NASDAQ: NXPI), the global provider of semiconductor chips. With the acquisition of Kinara, NXP boosts its portfolio with high-performance discrete NPUs and establishes a scalable platform for AI-powered edge systems. In addition, according to the company, NXP will benefit from adopting Kinara’s AI engineers, who have extensive experience in ML hardware, software stacks and application integration.
